There are people who can eat whatever they want and not gain weight. Most of us are not included.If you feel you are doing everything right, and don’t seem to be moving in the right direction as quickly as you wish, it might not be your fault. There are few factors that are really out of our hands.

Genetics play huge role in the way we look, so we come in all shapes and forms. This is a good thing, otherwise we would all look the same, and what a boring world would that be. We have all heard the excuse ‘she is just big-boned’ for a woman that looks stocky in spite of how much she diets. And there are many people with big bones, and a greater muscle mass, with a slow metabolism, which have just as much difficulty in weight loss. It does’nt excuse them from ensuring care is taken regarding their own weight; its more difficult for them to put the the required effort. A lean diet, smaller quantities of food and regular exercise work for them as good as anyone else, but slower and with much more effort.

Sex

Women are more prone to gaining extra pounds around buttocks, stomach and chest than men. Nature made sure that they have a layer of protection around the belly where babies are carried. They metabolize food slower than that of men in order to survive times of famine and hardships.{The layer of fat is there to store food for times when there is not enough available from nature}.On average the female will have 35 billion fat cells however the male has 26 billion fat cells.Men have a larger muscle mass than women, so when they exercise they use more energy than women. Of course, this is not the case for every man and woman, there is much we can change with effort, but the majority of us are stuck with what we got from nature.

Fat cells

Fat cells have an annoying ability to get created easily and staying around even when we lose weight.with weight loss stored fat is burned off. Nevertheless those cells maintain their presence. They just stay around to stock up when we get back consuming more food. When we gain weight, we first replenish existing fat cells, and then create new fat cells in which fat gets stored.Do they ever die? Sure, like all other cells, they constantly get created and die, but much slower. So, if your mother fed you until you were an adorable little ball, she was not doing you any favors. You might have to deal with the fat cells that were created in your childhood for many years. No wonder liposuction is making so many plastic surgeons rich.

Culture

We live in the world in which food is abundant and cheap and easily accessible. we do not need to hunt for our food any more. Any one being fat in some poor countries signify wealth in our culture its a sign of extravagance.

Another custom is our lack of understanding and a requirement for imediate satisfaction. We want everything now, so if our weight loss plan does not work in a few weeks, we consider it failed and move to another one. A good plan to work properly requires time for the chemical changes to to beging working in the body eventualy losing weight.

Lack of sleep

In old times, people went to sleep when the sun went down, and got up when the sun went up. We need about eight hours of sleep for our body to function at its best. artificial light in todays lifesyle seems to have altered our habits. If we do not get enough sleep, our appetite increases and we eat more. This is due to two hormones: leptin, which tells the brain that the body had enough to eat, and ghrelin, which is responsible for regulating the appetite. Scientists found that the more hours of sleep the body gets, the ghrelin concentrations deceases, reducing appetite and preventing weight gain.
